Pewter Drip-Casting Film

This short film shows the processes used to make the 'splash' bowl.

(Your browser requires a Quicktime plug in to play the film.)

Waste material from the lathe is re-melted and the temperature is taken to ensure the pewter will flow at an appropriate rate. The molten pewter is drizzled over an old spinning chuck made from solid steel. It solidifies immediately and a surface of the correct thickness is built up.

After removing from the tool the base of the bowl is flattened on a belt linishing machine. The piece is then buffed and polished to achieve the desired finish.

The pieces are available to buy at www.wentworth-pewter.com and www.spunique.com
